Camshaft variator removal and installation tool designed specifically for the Maserati 4200/Coupe/Spyder/GranSport and DuoSelect Quattroporte V with dry sump (4.2L with red valve covers) engines (variator part number 193779). Also works on Ferrari 430 variators (parts 193779 and 199438). Substitute for Maserati/Ferrari tool, part number 900027020 for 28 tooth sprockets. This is NOT needed for the wet sump Maserati engines, which use a bolt to hold the variator to the camshaft.

ABS plastic gear with internal teeth engages with the variator sprocket to ensure no damage to the sprocket. Tool comes with two plastic gears.
The tool features a welded body finished with a durable zinc plating. The slot cut to the top allows accessing the cap screws holding the chain sprocket to the variator.
Includes two bolt on drive plates for turning the tool. One has a 7/8 inch hex bar for use with a socket. The other has a square hole for using a 1/2" square drive extension. The square hole has been laser cut into the plate, and does not have perfectly smooth surface.
The variator shown in one picture is not included with the tool.
When using, apply steady pressure with hand tools. DO NOT USE WITH IMPACT TOOLS.
